American Dad
Roger, the sarcastic alien who saved Stan from Area 51 hates the fact that he is restricted to the our walls of the house unless he dresses in ridiculous outfits that question his sexuality. He smokes and drinks to cope with the torture of his own life. Klaus, the family goldfish is not actually a normal fish is from an experiment gone wrong due to the CIA. When they tried to put a German mans brain in a fishs brain they created Klaus who is also madly in love with Francine. (midi. Com) A utopia is a community or society possessing highly desirable or near perfect qualities. (Webster Dictionary). The show American Dad tries to portray their society and family as a Utopia meaning whatever happens wrought the episode there will always be a happy ending after the thirty minutes the show allots. This show exemplifies entertainment for the audience as utopia. The show revolves around C. I. A. Agent Stan Smith, and his not so average family. Stan is constantly fighting off terrorists who threaten the safety of the United States, sometimes causing more harm than good. His wife Francine is your average house wife. She juggles Stan and the kids while keeping a sound mind. Halley, Stains only daughter, is your average rebellious teenager. She speaks her own mind, and does things her win way. Steve, Stains only son, is a bit of a geek. He enjoys games like Dungeons and Dragons, and participating in comic book conventions. Although hes not Stains dream son, he always makes him proud. Then theres Roger, the illegal alien who the Smith are keeping protected. Roger deals with your average alien emotions, and the fact that he is not allowed out in public, which causes him great distress.Last but not least, Klaus, the Smith s wisecracking talking fish who is secretly in love with Francine. (TV Calendar) The theme song that opens the show on every episode starts by inning a catchy patriotic jingle. The first few lines Stan sings tells Of his optimistic outlook on his beloved country LISA, giving inanimate objects humanistic qualities which is personification. Although the song is short and sweet, it makes the audience think this show is going to an upbeat and positive television show for a family. By comparing this show to our country, it gives a negative light to the United States as a whole. In a recent episode, the rapture occurred while Stan and Francine are left on the planet with Roger to occupy their time. Stan went to any and all lengths to try to get selected for the second coming of the rapture by finding the supposed Jesus Christ backstage and letting him have sexual activities with him after he blamed Francine for all his problems. After all the problems that occurred in this episode, the end of the episode made everyone look like one big happy family. The show American Dad ridicules America with the constant back and forth idiotic tactics they do throughout all the seasons. It makes fun of America by basically saying whatever happens in this show is how America is in a whole. Stan hides Roger in his attic so the government would not take him because he feels he owes Roger something for saving his life. This example proves that there is corruption in our government. Although Francine appears to be a normal housewife her dark, secretive past with lust, drugs, and sex constantly haunt her. Haley Stan and Franchises daughter, is an activist to anything her father has to defend because she feels like the government are a bunch of arrogant, conceited men in suits with too much power. The son Steve, is an average high school aged boy who just wants to it in. He tries almost everything in his power to make the girls in his school want to lust after him like he lusts after them. The alien Roger, he plays the role as the red headed step child that doesnt really fit in but makes the show more entertaining to people. Klaus the goldfish, he always has a trick up his sleeve in any situation he comes across. American Dad does not portray America the way we or any other country should view it.It makes a mockery of our country by saying no matter what you do or the severity you do it to everything will go back to normal at the end of the day which is not reality. If there were actual consequences to the actions the characters Stan, Francine, Haley, Steve, Roger, or Klaus committed it would not be topic of discussion, but since there is no repercussion for their actions they continue to do illegal things. American Dad is nothing short of a joke to society and the fact that people make real comparisons to the show and our country shows that television has an impact on the lives of the people who inhabit our world.

Positivist and Interpretivist Research Designs Essay
Positivist and Interpretivist Research Designs - Essay Example It is a case study format but still an effective format to lead out to the research objective and to the objective reality of the research (Shanks, 2002). The Methodology In order to address the question, there are two research approaches that are applicable in a positive research design ââ¬â the descriptive research approach and the experimental research approach. The descriptive research approach will lead to the empirical studies, surveys, correlation studies, and relevant case studies about the employee motivation and performance in the UK domiciliary care sector (Poinasamy, 2009). This collected empirical evidence will become the source of guide for the researcher to carry out effective experimentation and observation. In order to understand the significance of relationship between zero hours contract and employee motivation, and zero-hours contract and employee performance, this accumulated empirical evidence will come out as an effective resource. Such collected empirical evidence will become a source of experimentation in the research (Belk, 2007, p.198). The Experimentation In the highly controlled conditions, the observations will be taken from the selected organization of the UK domiciliary sector (Poinasamy, 2009, p.3). These observations will become the primary source of data to understand the correlations between the zero hour contract and employee motivation and zero-hour contract and employee performance. It is actually the comprehension of the variables that will bring deliberate understanding for the positivist researcher. Keeping zero-hour contract as a constant variable, the effect of this variable will be found on employee motivation and performance, which are two dependent variables. By applying such... This report approves that the contemporary literature of research indicates that there are two approaches that are significantly applied to address research questions- positivism and interpretivism. The positivist research follows through the objective research design to address and answer the research inquires. The interpretivist research goes through with the subjectivist research design, which is based on introspection and exploration. This is how both of the research designs are significantly applicable to researches and empirical studies. The researcher will take the thematic rout e of analysis in order to explore the situation of UK domiciliary care sector. This report has applied both the positivist and the interpretivist research design to address a derived research question. The differences in terms of methodologies, beliefs and the research conducts are highlighted between both positivism and interpretivism. The difference indicates that positivist approach applies the scientific models for analysis, while the interpretivist approach applies personal rationale, and introspection to conduct research. In this way, the positivist approach sets the mathematical and scientific ground of research while the interpretivist design base the research on contemporary and past empirical evidences. Both approaches effectively address the research question but have a different route and methodology to conduct research.

Unauthorized Sale Of Starbucks In Japan - Essay Example Previous record of the company indicates that, 'a customer would buy at any given time was 66 cases and majority of the buyers would only buy 1 to 11 cases to an order' (Black Market Sale). Black Market has been real issue for the brands of international standards and repute. The company has previously no direct contact with any of the distributor in Japan, and the company was not authorized to sell or market their product in Japan, it was therefore complete interference in the company's production and distribution department, and it was doubted that the company's personal authority and black marketer must have purported the plan and execution of this illegal practice. effect of media on sports :: essays research papers
influence of mass media on sport : Influences of Mass Media in Sport When communication is spread not just between two individuals but rather between tens of millions of people it is known as mass media. Mass media is known as the central nervous system of society. "Mass media has many different purposes, such as providing information, entertaining, persuading and also by carrying a vague general function of culture to millions of people."(Frederick 18). In order for mass media to exist, there must be an audience. Today's society is very selective; each receiver reacts differently through his or her own experience and orientation according to mass media. Therefore, mass media exists in many different forms such as magazines, television, newspapers, internet, motion pictures, and even plays. Some examples of these forms of mass media are cosmopolitan magazine for young modern women and TSN television network for sports fans. With such extreme varieties of mass media existing in today's societies there are three major constraints that seem to have an impressionable impact. These constraints can keep mass media very restricted. The major constraint of mass media is competition. Each form of mass media wants to be the one to target the audience, so therefore competition between mass media is very strong, because capturing the inside of the sports world is critical. Apart from the competition among the various forms of media there is also competition among each form of the media example Fox network competes with all television networks for a market share of the audience. Network companies such as Fox buy the contracts to show American football games for millions of dollars, which they in turn make their money back through companies wanting to advertize on their network during these football games. The audience Fox attracts by showing these games also provides an audience for companies wanting to advertise their products and provides potential customers for their products. This life cycle exists in all forms of media apart from just television, newspapers try to cover the best stories in all areas of life from tradegy to sports and entertainment. From a sociological stand point in today's society sex and violence attracts audiences. By examining the internet, which is the newest form of mass media internet companies that provide the most outrageous websites with sex and violence are the most watched websites. Media Companies compete with each other on those levels by looking at what attracts the most attention and trying to provide it.

Gay Marriage? Essay
When you think of America, the first thing that should come to your mind is a nation of peace and equality. But in reality itââ¬â¢s not, is it? We live in a nation of racism, sexism, and homophobia. Homosexuals get the worst of all the unfair treatment. Gays have been fighting for rights since the 1960ââ¬â¢s, maybe even before then, and yet today in 2012, those pleas for rights are heard, but ignored & lashed at. We should allow same-sex marriage because banning it is unfair, love is all that matters in marriage, & gay families have certain family values that some straight marriages lack. Banning an issue doesnââ¬â¢t make it go away. The fact of the matter is, itââ¬â¢ll always be there: gay people will always exist & so will their need for equal rights. As stated in ââ¬â¢14th amendmentââ¬â¢ in the Constitution, ââ¬Å"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privilegesâ⬠¦ nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. â⬠In short, everyone deserves the same, equal rights: that includes gay people. In that case, banning same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. Making this issue illegal is also a form of discrimination. Homophobes ridicule & abuse gay citizens, gays are just being themselves! We are all created equal, so why canââ¬â¢t we all just try to get along? Whatââ¬â¢s the reason people get married for? Love is. Whoââ¬â¢s to judge someone based ;amp; whom they love? No one has the rights to do so. Gays have feelings too, ;amp; them getting married isnââ¬â¢t hurting anyone. In most, basically all, marriages, vows are said to one another. They have many strong family benefits that some straight marriages lack, such as being more open-minded & accepting. As said in a study of gay/lesbian families/parenting, ââ¬Å"Not a single study has found children of gay or lesbian parents to be disadvantaged in any significant respect relative to children of heterosexual parents, (J. Patterson, Pg. 9). â⬠Gay couples have been proven to have stronger emotional bonds than straight couples. Strong family benefits & strong emotional bonds are necessary to long-lasting relationships & marriages. The thing is, it isnââ¬â¢t who youââ¬â¢re raised by, itââ¬â¢s how youââ¬â¢re raised. Banning the issue is unfair, love is all that matters in marriage, & some gay families have certain family values that some straight marriages lack. Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, & transsexual people deserve to have the same rights as & be happy like everyone else. Gays should be allowed to marry.

How Does Rousseau And Diderot Compare Their Texts On Human...
How does Rousseau and Diderot compare their texts on human happiness? Both these authors Diderot and Rousseau have similar perspectives on human happiness. They believe happiness comes from who you spend your time with and within the environment that you live in. This essay will talk about some similar factors on what and why makes them happy and comfortable within themselves. They both liked to live a care free life , not to be a slave or to be a boss. The authors mention that they both liked the scenery of nature and that their happiness comes when they are comfortable within themselves and their surroundings. Both Rousseau and Diderot wrote happiness is to live freely in peace and not to live life worrying about what is going to happen the next day. Rousseau mentions in his text ââ¬Ëand then we would go off to bed satisfied with our day and only wishing for the next day to be the sameââ¬â¢ (p. 50). He likes to live his day to day life, as the day goes. He does not like to plan ahead. Diderot writes in his text ââ¬Ëthe idea of crime and the threat of illness came among us within your entryââ¬â¢ (p. 8). He is showing that crime was never experienced in the town; what Diderot is intending to say is that they live in peace without a worry and that was what made them happy. Both authors agree that not being told what to do by anyone, in means to control them or slave them around and without being hassled is what they have been doing and is what they prefer to live. In Diderotââ¬â¢s text he
